Next door stands the colonial Cabildo, the white arcaded building that was the seat of Spanish colonial government and the stage on which the May Revolution of 1810 was debated and set in motion. Today it houses a free museum dedicated to that revolution; the upstairs balcony offers an unusually good view of the square below.

A un lado se alza el colonial Cabildo, el edificio blanco con arcadas que fue la sede del gobierno español y el escenario donde se debatió y se puso en marcha la Revolución de Mayo de 1810. Hoy alberga un museo gratuito dedicado a aquella revolución; el balcón del piso superior ofrece una vista inusualmente clara de la plaza.

Ao lado fica o colonial Cabildo, o edifício branco com arcadas que foi a sede do governo espanhol e o cenário onde se debateu e se deflagrou a Revolução de Maio de 1810. Hoje abriga um museu gratuito dedicado àquela revolução; a varanda do andar superior propicia uma vista particularmente boa da praça.
