Afternoon: Into Aracaju
The SE-100 continues south, eventually joining the Rodovia Seixas Dória and the Rodovia Engenheiro Edilson Távora toward the city. The approach to Teleférico de Aracajú — in the mid-afternoon — takes you to the Parque da Cidade on the Morro do Urubu, in the northern zone. The park covers more than 600,000 square metres and contains the only remaining fragment of urban Mata Atlântica in Aracaju. The teleférico, inaugurated in 2006, links the base of the hill to the upper station in a ride of around 25 minutes; from the top, a short and easy trail continues to a natural mirante — the launching ramp for hang gliders — from which the city spreads out in full: the Rio Sergipe meeting the Atlantic, the Ponte Construtor João Alves connecting to Barra dos Coqueiros, and the geometry of the planned city below. The mini zoológico at the base has free entry and houses lion, macaw, and quati among its more than 400 resident species. Note that the teleférico operates Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00–17:00.
