Notes

La Yesera follows a few kilometres further north — a section where the geology shifts to pale grey and white, the rock eroded into low rounded mounds of gypsum that contrast sharply with the reds on either side. El Fraile requires more patience: a robed figure pressed into the canyon wall, the monk's cowl and downcast silhouette visible once the eye has found it against the cliff face. A few minutes further, El Sapo sits directly beside the road — a boulder worn by wind and rain into the unmistakable hump and flat-headed profile of a toad, squatting at the base of the cliff.
