From the river end, a detour leads to the Faro de Colonia, rising from the ruins of the 17th-century Convento de San Francisco. Built in 1857, it's modest, but its view over the barrio and Plata is unbeatable.
West along Paseo de San Gabriel, the Bastión de San Pedro marks the peninsula's southern tip, an 18th-century fort turned park. On clear days, Buenos Aires is faintly visible across the water.
