Mirador Isla Monte León
A short drive back up from the coastal area reaches the viewpoint facing Isla Monte León, the offshore island that anchors the park's southern end. From here the island's vast cormorant colonies are visible, along with other seabird species that characterise this stretch of Atlantic coast. The interpretive panels at the mirador cover the history of fauna exploitation in the area — guano extraction and sea lion hunting were significant industries here until the 1970s — and the conservation work that eventually led to the park's creation.
